seriously, 16 valve heads go for about 35-40 bucks. put one on it with a dx intake manifold and a dx tranny, and boost it. 180 whp and alot of fun

I don't know how to say this, but if you're only getting 180 whp out of it...that's not going to be enouph to make me happy. I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up with a B16 in this car anyway..

180 whp...... shouldnt be too bad, especially if you are considering a b16 which will have what 130 whp, and 100 wheel tq. keep in mind that the 180 whp turbo will still have like 160 tq to the wheels?
Unless you plan on boosting the b16 anyways

Considering you are only getting about 50whp now, you will be very happy.

exactly my point. 180 whp in a eg hatch will put you in the low 14s. thats not blazing fast, but its enough to have fun with

ignore the 16 valve valve cover, this is a stock d15b8.

my friend mike ran it for months, then we fixed the wastegate so it actually built boost at a decent rate (the gate was sticking open) he blew it up 2 days later at 15 psi.

No matter what motor I use...it's going to be boosted. There's just NO way I can live with an NA car anymore...I know that the B will be more dependable, but more expensive. I think I'm going to end up with a B16 boosted with a super 60 at 8spi. Probly good for about 200-220 whp. That's really the range I'd like to be in for a driver...do you think a super 60 will do this, or is it a little small?

Sounds like you have your mind made up. This is hmt, of course we are gonna want to go with the cheapest, ghettoest route, i.e turbo d, i personally would go with the turbo d, mainly because im a cheap bastard.

Re: Anyone here ever boost a stock CX motor?

Oh yes, I agree with the HMT ideal, but I do need this one to be dependable...after I get done with this setup, I plan to get another hatch and build a race car...I won't be happy until I get 10's from a hatch. BTW, does anyone here know how much HP a 60-1 is good for with a .63 stg 3 turbine in it? I can find maps, but nothing that gets specific on the turbine size as well as the compressor...the compressor part is easy. I just want to make sure I sizing thing right to make 500-550 whp. This will be for that race car when I get there....
