I have a 1990 323 DX...although the rest of the beater is falling apart, the drivetrain is solid.

I've been toying with the idea of running a junkyard boost setup more for the learning experience then gaining real power (i doubt the clutch and injectors can handle much more power)

Also, none of the Mazda guys boost this engine, they just swap a B6T or BPT (323 GTX engines) instead.

Has this been done before? I would be looking to run aprox 4-5psi max, I have a good connection to junkyard parts - any advice on a homemade setup would be great.

 

You want a B6T manifold? It's got the classic crack but has been repaired...
