I think it would be more trouble than it's worth and almost impossible to do also. Like in a computer, you can't just switch an Intel cpu with an AMD cpu, or even different generation cpus of the same manufacturers without switching out the motherboard. But then you have to update your drivers, deal with BoDs, etc. unless you do a clean install.. which is just like getting a whole new car :(

I don't see it happening without some major headaches and a lot of check engine lights. The crank angle sensor is going to see a different stroke than the Eclipse engine and throw a code right off the bat. If you could fool the ECU into thinking the Honda engine has the same stoke as the Eclipse engine then its going to fire the injectors and the spark plugs at the wrong times and your motor will run rough or won't run at all. The fuel and timing curves won't work on the Honda engine either. Nice try but I don't see it working out.

damn I like a challenge. I could change the maf to map if I had to and I can definetly put the know sensor, but the injector firing problem seems kinda tough to get around. hmmmm guess its time to do some research.

Here is a tougher problem...The mitsu engine rotates (clockwise) at the opposite way as the Honda engine(counterclockwise).
Try to fix that :o ::) .No way buddy....and the mitsu is distributorless...well then you would have to try to rig a old school vacume advance distributor to make that work(no ignition timing control)or go with a aftermarket Distributorless ignition system...which means you could just go buy a standalone. If you want the DSM ECU in there you're better of swapping the whole engine..it would be easier ;D

this would take so long you would prolly give up, BUT most of the things stated as problems have been done for other reasons. 1 person converted his 80-somethin accord to a distributerless ignition using a gm ecu. another group was making a rear wheel drive b18 and for some reason the tranny had to be on the driverside, so they had a cam made with reverse grinds, then pretty much rewrote most of the firing code on an eprom using a pm6 ecu from what i remember. dont forget the dsm use eprom ecu's too, so you wont actually have to rotate the engine backwards. just have the ecu rotate it the correct way. remember you will need alot to do this but far from impossible. cam, a custom billet coil rack/cam seal, and some sort of cam sensor setup. on top of this you will have to reprogram most of the ecu coding. + make a custom harness. peace morgan
