any see a problem with this? make evo manifold work on honda.
ok. so in my "msut have cheap turbo honda" mindset, and many www.homemadeturbo.com threads later i have pieced together a turbo kit for less than 200$
the msot important pieces.
i acquired a evo turbo, manifold, wg, o2 housing.
the turbo is twin scroll (meaning that two exhaust ports go to one side of turbo, and two to the other, to make equal exhaust pulses and some other bs (better/ equal/faster spool)
i want to use the twin scroll system
here is my FIRST IDEA
take a stock honda d series manifold , and chop off the flange (ports for head) and ghetto weld to evo manifold ( i understand theat the arent the same length ect, but i had fixes for that).
PROBLEM:
manifolds are CAST IRON and it is very hard to weld, nad even harder to get right without cracking.
WHAT I PLAN TO DO NOW:
buy a honda flange (like a shop would buy to make a turbo manifold) and also buy an evo one.
weld small pipes from the honda ports, to the evo ports, then bolt evo flange to evo manifold, and honda flange to head on car. the pipes wouldnt be more than an inch and a half long, but i have ample room in my enginge bay so its no problem anyway.
of course i will have the flanges bolted to heads as i weld the pipes to each one (to prevent warping from the heat)
the only problem i come up with so far is to make sure i have a bracket holding the manifold up, so there wont be too much pressure on any of the welds onthe small pipes.
any thing i didnt cover please ask, or any potential problems you see.

Re: any see a problem with this? make evo manifold work on honda.
buy a manifold? i have a turbo d manifold.. but would be hard to adapt to a twin scroll turbo ( not even close)
and i dont wnat ot spend all typ of money.. its no hassle its an hour of welding/ cutting pipes)
the evo manifold is split into two separate parts. each time exhaust gasses are emitted (two outside, then two inside) they o through different ports to turbo . so if i use another manifold i wont be able to utilize the full potential of the turbo for what it was made for.

Re: any see a problem with this? make evo manifold work on honda.
explain to me why i would spend mony on a manifold vs 40$ in flanges?
and tell me where i get the d series manifold for a twin scroll turbo.
then go back to my 40$ solution.
and i posted already that i had ample room in the engine bay. the pipes wont be 4 ft long. it will fit. i will have extra room

i am lookign for what the thread states, if anyone sees any potential problem with it, or a reason it shouldnt work.
so far all i have gotten is alternate routes ppl think i should take. i dont wnat to spend the money that the ideas posted require this is hmt......

i guess we jsut see it different. i stated chassis fitment wasnt a problem, why? cheap and simple, not pia.
i got the ball rolling on ordering my flanges so ill keep it updated.
but like u siad, better to do it than talk so ima get to it.
