ALL OIL PRESS. GAUGES OWNERS READ THIS!!

Quickly help, i'm installing my oil pressure gauge and i just came across something on the internet that said with an oil pressure gauge, never use the stock line that autometer sends you, get a steel braided line. Is this what everyone else has done, or is this line just fine? Let me know asap. Thanks.

This is pretty much common sense man. Think about it. The line that comes with it will work fine, but the chances of it getting pinched and rupturing are much higher which could cause a nice oil bath to your interior. Is that worth the $15-20 you'd spend for the ss braided line? Answer that question and the decision is easy.

The plastic line it comes with is fine. Just make sure where the line comes through the firewall is wraped with electrical tape or somthing to protect and sheild it from geting cut.

You should have gotten a little bushing to put in the firewall opening to protect the lines.... It should come with the Autometer mech. oil pressure gauge.

wow you people still buy mechanical oil gauges?

The post ahead of me was on the right track.. go find a rubber grommet from any autoparts store to insulate the firewall hole.

yeah, just cause I run a mechanical guage doesn't mean that I expect the rest of you people to. I have no interior on my truck so if it gets wet or dirty or covered in cow ---- it doesn't phase me.

It was more of a sarcastic remark asking why would they be doing that? Did I really tell you to run a mech gauge? It IS more accurate and benefits in some ways but I would just expect everyone around here to run a remote sensor one instead.. just cause it's the thing to do

If you put whats called a service loop in the line right before it enters the firewall there should be no problems with ruptured line but don't forget the grommet to protect the line from rubbing away.
