Default Air filter right on Turbo inlet

i know alot of people run screens and some people run a pipe with a air filter on it from a colder area, but can i just mount the air filter right on the turbo intake inlet, will the hard plastic part melt? or will it be ok, basically im asking can i put the air filter right on the turbo or no
