Default Adjusting the boost on IHI RHB52 turbo?

So I found this IHI RHB52 turbo off of a 1988 Ford Thunder Bird Turbo Coupe. I know that the factory external waste gate on the turbo is set at around 10 psi for the auto and 14 psi for the manuals. However I don't want to run this much on my D-series honda motor. How would I be able to lower the psi on this turbo to around lets say 7 psi?

you will have to get an external waste gate that will run 7 psi

it is however a waste of time , if you wanna boost seven, get a smaller turbo

that thing wont spool untill about 5000rpm on a 1600

what, 5000rpm, thats a .48 exhaust side, should see 8-10psi by 3500rpm w/ no leaks. i would think anyways.

Go smaller than an rhb5? Your kidding right.

External wastegate or do a search for adjusting the internal gate to get 7psi.

In short, you lengthen the actuator rod to decrease boost, or you clip a small piece off the spring. More of a trial and error way of doing it.

^ Yep, you dont have to run a exsternal WG to get lower boost. I removed my actuator on my T25 and used just a spring, I have it set to 5psi now, to run more all I have to do it tighten the spring. On my IHI I just cut the WG rod and threaded the ends and used a coupler to join the ends back together, that way it's adjustable by turning the coupler.

you can always use a WG from one of the saabs or Tbird tubos with the treaded piece that attaches to the flapper on the turbo.
