If I can get a few things worked out in order to pass tech, I'm hoping to make it to the track the weekend of the 26th. need to get the 2 step hooked up so I don't bog it too. lol
It will only be at ~14-15 lbs and no intercooler so I don't expect anything very fast. Just wanting to get a baseline and have some fun.

Very nice.

Did you have the car already running off of megasquirt before you started?

I had MS1E for a couple years, ran MS2E for about a month, then had some engine issues and the car sat for about 7 months till I could get time. I never had it running well on MS2E, just didn't have time to tune it well when it was running.

I need to find a buddy with a camera.
It actually sounds sweeter at low boost before the VGT opens from all the turbine whistle. The exhaust gets a lot louder and the turbine quiets down.

cool turbo. do those 2.4L (4g64?) motors interchange with any 4g63 motor and tranny?

The only external difference between 4g63 and 4g64 as long as you stay within generation 6 bolt vs 7 bolt is 6mm of deck height. Ones that started life with an 8v head there are a couple holes that most people plug in the deck for oil drainback when swapping for a 16v head.
Other than that some don't have a hole threaded in the stock location for a knock sensor, but it can be relocated to another hole nearby.
2.4's that can be used:
6 bolt "4g64s" are the g64b, 7 bolt the 4g64, and 6 bolt hyundia's that are usable for a hybrid are the G4CS.

Hopefully I didn't ---- that up I'm a bit tipsy.

Ok so now I'm searching for one of these turbos :P

how hard was it to modify the electronic VGT controller to make the wastegate actuator work? Since you are using the actuator technically you could use a boost controller to adjust when the vains open correct? have you messed with this to see if it has any affect on spool? or is it fairly good where you have it set now?
