94 civic sedan built d16a6 ~UPDATE broke into the 13's~
well im finally making a thread on my setup now thats its near completion. To start off it is a built d16a6 going into my 94 civic lx sedan. I blew the d15b7 up that was in it before i started the build. I was running 14 psi on basemap and a .42/.48 turbo and it went lean when getting into it in second gear on new years day and threw a rod threw the side of my block. So thats when i decided im done with blowing stock engines since that was my third engine, (different cars) and thats why i am building the a6 that i am putting in. As of right now it is assembled w/o the manifolds and a few sensors are not on it yet. I should have it done by the end of this week and have it in and running by next sat.

Re: 94 civic sedan built d16a6
Solid setup man!! I miss my four door :'(
|
Re: 94 civic sedan built d16a6
yea im wondering what kinda whp i can achieve with this setup i was hoping for 400whp+ with the gt35r at somewhere around 25psi and the compression should be about 8.5:1. Any thoughts??

Re: 94 civic sedan built d16a6
Nothing better then a boosted D :6 That poor front bumper :-X
|
Re: 94 civic sedan built d16a6
I used to have a 4door, I loved that car. Def. get a new bumper and stealth up that front end with the quickness.
|
Re: 94 civic sedan built d16a6
lookin good, but please put all the timing covers on lol
|
Re: 94 civic sedan built d16a6
sexy a6 but you could of went wiht a stock z6 head wiht the non vtack rocker arm assembly and cam in there wuold flow better bigger ports and ---- yo!
but verry nice build i should say just the IC sould be hidden.. |
Re: 94 civic sedan built d16a6
yes i am putting the timing covers on and for the fmic i am painting it black and a diff bumper will be on the car.
the car in the pic is not the car it is going into it is my old setup in a 95 sedan, the a6 is going in my 94 sedan with the rims from that car and a diff. bumper but otherwise the same exact car oh and its a charcoal color not blue. i dont have any pics of it as of right now but i will soon. it looks exactly the same though, even the springs from the 95 were swapped over. thanx for all the comments |
Re: 94 civic sedan built d16a6
Unless the SRP's were given .0040" or greater clearance, I'd stop at 300whp. I'd also go with a GT30R or GT32, especially if its a street car most of the time. Asside from obviously larger injectors, a better FMIC, and LSD if you use slicks, I wouldn't change much.
|
Re: 94 civic sedan built d16a6
why should i stop at 300? will the rings not hold? this is my first build and i dont know alot still. im trying to learn. any other opinions on this? i was really looking for 400 or more and that was in mind the whole build.

Re: 94 civic sedan built d16a6
interesting but i dont know i know stock bore vitaras in a d block have lots of slap
|
Re: 94 civic sedan built d16a6
but does that help them handle the power?
|
Re: 94 civic sedan built d16a6
I like everything except for the hackage on the bumper. That looks muy :-X

yea that bumper is from the other car that is junk from when i had turbo'd it i was in a rush to get the newer setup done when i did the black car so it has the other bumper on it but im going to put the black bumper that was on the black car when i got it back on and not cut it like i did the first on just cut the back for clearance. |
Re: 94 civic sedan built d16a6
ya pistons need more clearance than normal for turbo apps some one should know probly somehing to do with that turbo engine get hottor egt so the pistons tend to expand from heat more... and the much higher cylinder pressure pushing on the top of the piston..
ask in the hybrid section |
Re: 94 civic sedan built d16a6
OLD STYLE TEG WHEELS FTW!!! :8

Re: 94 civic sedan built d16a6
yea i like them better then hub caps

Re: 94 civic sedan built d16a6

Re: 94 civic sedan built d16a6 ~UPDATE PICS~
The Z6 head will help a lot if you want to go past 300whp, but then again so would a delta cam in the non-vtak head. What I meant about the SRP pistons & stopping at 300whp is that they require a bit more clearance than other forged pistons because of the alloy they use. It expands more, and given the amount of meltdowns they've seen - do in fact melt easier.
And now that I see the turbo setup - goddamn is that ghetto! You *definately* will need a better exhaust setup if you want to pass 250whp. You may hit 225whp at 18psi with that tiny downpipe. Going from a 2.25" to 3" on a 250whp setup will get you 25-50whp at the same PSI, and the gains keep increasing as you increase the PSI. You also spool a lot faster. |

what do you think i should do??? 1.) get it tuned now and then when i change the exhaust and turbo get it retuned. or 2.) Wait and run basemap with low boost and use money for tuning to upgrade the other ----. |
Re: 94 civic sedan built d16a6 ~UPDATE PICS~
I finally bought a bigger turbo, its a garrett .60/.48 t3/t04e i believe and i got it from samson. :y
I also had a 3" downpipe made which is 10x better then what i was using before on the smaller turbo A few pics http://a584.ac-images.myspacecdn.com...d743ef8427.jpg http://a449.ac-images.myspacecdn.com...fef2800580.jpg I will get some of the downpipe and of it all on the car in a little bit |
Re: 94 civic sedan built d16a6 ~UPDATE PICS~
Not bad, I like the pic with the good bumper and black fmic.
|
Re: 94 civic sedan built d16a6 ~UPDATE PICS~
Yea thats how i am driving it around now it is really hard to see that its turbo but u can hear it since i am running 3" open dp and i have a greddy type s but if im not getting into it you cant really tell at all i like it.

Re: 94 civic sedan built d16a6 ~UPDATE PICS~
What do you guys think of this for my car its only $106 so would it be better then the 2.5x24x12" godspeed intercooler i have now?

Re: 94 civic sedan built d16a6 ~UPDATE PICS~
I have used that intercooler before or the similar one from SSauto and it works great.Build is looking good keep the updates coming.

Re: 94 civic sedan built d16a6 ~UPDATE PICS~
yr air fuel gauge placement is rad
and i was diggin on the front mount hanging out like that... but looks good concealed too |
Re: 94 civic sedan built d16a6 ~UPDATE PICS~
thanks, i liked my intercooler out like that at first but then i thought it looked kinda hacked since i didnt do the best job with cutting the bumper and when i changed it i was much happier because now not only is it one less thing for the cop to look at me for but its one less thing noticed by everyone else i kinda like the sleeperness now. :6
|
Re: 94 civic sedan built d16a6 ~UPDATE PICS~
word
it looking hacked is actually what I liked about it.... but gotta look out for 5-0 and thieves |
Re: 94 civic sedan built d16a6 ~UPDATE PICS~

Re: 94 civic sedan built d16a6 ~UPDATE Getting tuned by xenocron today~
Im going to xenocron today to get my car tuned and im leaving now at 4:15 in the a.m. to try and make it to new york by 9. everyone wish me good luck because i have a feeling i will need it, im crossing my fingers this is my first tune and im a little nervous but i feel i picked one of the best around so im not worried about any problems but i feel i have some bugs that may need to be worked out while im up there. Ill find out in a couple hours if my damn car makes it there. I will definitely update later with numbers. :6

Re: 94 civic sedan built d16a6 ~UPDATE Getting tuned by xenocron today~
good luck!!

Re: 94 civic sedan built d16a6 ~UPDATE Getting tuned by xenocron today~
Killer build. I believe you'll make atleast the 350 mark if you have no stupid problems to hold you back. Best of luck to you bub and I hope you make some killer numbers. Give me a pm sometime. I'd like to talk to you

Re: 94 civic sedan built d16a6 ~UPDATE Getting tuned by xenocron today~
well bad news.... i traveled 200 miles to find out that my exhaust points right toward my control arm and that it would burn through the starps that would hold my car to the dyno. sooo i was not able to get a dyno tune ??? but i was able to street tune it with chris and he did a very good job and i am very happy with what i got even though no dyno or numbers or high boost. so next step now will be to get a full exhaust instead of open 3" d/p and then go back up to NY and get my ---- on the dyno for some real power. sorry i dont have any number to give but i would guess around 200 whp on 12psi, who knows.
well i will be going to the track (cecil county dragway) on friday and hopefully i can get into the 13's sine now i have boost builder / 2-step and it runs 100% better on top of the added boost. my best run before w/ stock intake mani and stock d15 throttle body on 9 psi was 14.06 @ 102.3 mph and a 2.2 60ft (street tires) |
Re: 94 civic sedan built d16a6 ~UPDATE Getting tuned by xenocron today~
Sounds good. Aint nothing wrong with a street tune.
