yep, i am finally boosted.
it all starts your everyday, unboosted, 175,000 mile D16 that is ready for boost. http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...MXk1NDE%3D.jpg hidden SMIC, which i can get more pictures of, it was kinda a pain in the ass, i had never really seen one mounted, or how it was mounted, but after ------ with it for awhile, and a few beers, i was able to make it work like i wanted it to. the only thing holding it is one peice of steel welded to the frame, then bolted it up. it holds solid as hell. not visable at all from the front, a little visible from the inner fender well 8) http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...MXk1NDE%3D.jpg waiting for the turbo http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...MXk1NDE%3D.jpg tapped oil pan http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...MXk1NDE%3D.jpg tuner toys oil line adaptor. this wasnt as hard as i thought it was gonna be. http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...MXk1NDE%3D.jpg the homemade gauge pod. bacially, i took a hose clamp, put it around the gague, then took the turbo ID plate and used it to support the gauge. i will post a picture later of it inside the car. the shitty line that autogauge sends with there gauge is stupid. so i just cut it right out of the outlet, just as you can see, then bought some vaccum line that goes around the line which autogauge supplies. -then of coarse tapped into the IM. its working great. http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...MXk1NDE%3D.jpg yes, while grinding away at the "webbing" on the block to make room for the acuater, i put a ------- hole in the block. jb weld to the rescue. its holding fine *fingers crossed* http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...MXk1NDE%3D.jpg after ------- the block up, i said ---- it and kevin and i made our own acuater. a peice of chain, and a spring. that is working great also. right now, its boosting about 6psi. (it also acts as a MBC if you move the spring ;)) http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...MXk1NDE%3D.jpg installed http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...MXk1NDE%3D.jpg kevin doing up my injectors http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...MXk1NDE%3D.jpg i came home to my wonderful wife who had a bowl of homemade brocolii soup, steak, and a baked potato waiting on me :-* http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...MXk1NDE%3D.jpg overall, all went really really good. saturday we started on it about 2, it was ------- pouring down rain and about 50degrees. today, it was freezing balls! if the wind wouldnt have been blowing like crazy, it would have not to bad for install weather. now for the turbo, its a T3, 42/48, DSM SMIC, 450's, uberdata, HF manifold, and BMC adaptor plate. charge pipes are crush bends, and my couplers i got from home depot. oil lines are stealthmode. Overall, i have about $500 in the entire thing. -including a new clutch -well used, but you get the idea. should be here by the end of the week for next weekend project. big thanks for kevin who let me use his car-port, and the uberdata. we had a good time! he will post more pictures and a few vids monday. he also was helping on a little project, he will explain. it was a good weekend for HMT SE crew 8) http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...MXk1NDE%3D.jpg |

Re:5371 posts later, IM BOOSTED
Is that you Kyle? ???
Oh ---- man, that's great. Glad to hear you got it going. That sucks about your block. DOn't you remember me saying "If you see coolant you went too far"? :P We'll have to post our setups over on Honda-Tech at the same time to see how bad we get flamed. ::) __________________ Best Car Insurance | Auto Protection Today | FREE Trade-In Quote |
Re:5371 posts later, IM BOOSTED ~56K~
no coolant leaked. i pretty much stopped when i saw the ------ hole. it was only about the size of a pencil eraser.
ohh yeah, and i didnt put in a O2 sensor, and no down pipe yet. 8) the WG chatter is insane sounding. it sounds very bad ass. almost to the point where i dont want a BOV, i like hearing that chatter. :P |
Re:5371 posts later, IM BOOSTED ~56K~
No O2= more flow
|
Re:5371 posts later, IM BOOSTED ~56K~
Holy ---- Frank, that wastegate chain has got to be the most ghetto thing I've ever seen. Nice work.
Now strap that feedline down before it's introduced to your cam gear, son. ;) |
Re:5371 posts later, IM BOOSTED ~56K~
I did steve. its ok. ;)
thanks alot though. |
Re:5371 posts later, IM BOOSTED ~56K~
homemade wastegate and chain.. dude.. wow..
glad it works 8) |
Re:5371 posts later, IM BOOSTED ~56K~
That is pretty kick ass man.
I'd be scared as ---- if I put a hole in my block, but then again JB weld is the ----. Get some vids up of that beast. |
Re:5371 posts later, IM BOOSTED ~56K~
thumbs up
|
Re:5371 posts later, IM BOOSTED ~56K~
thats like a baby steak, wheres the rest of it? ??? lol
nice job, HM to the max on the wastegate :) |
Re:5371 posts later, IM BOOSTED ~56K~
frank, you know that ----'s only holdin 4 psi ;) the only reason frank posted the pics of his jb welded block b/c i said i was going to if he didn't :D what a ------- weekend, i put in some serious over time on these ------- cars this weekend, we just got ryans car started too :) i'll post vids tomorrow at work on the t1 connection, not even trying on my dial up...... got some home made shifter cart bonus footage too.....

Re:5371 posts later, IM BOOSTED ~56K~
Good stuff ;D
I dont think I've seen a HMT kit that cheap in a while 500 bucks is a good deal. What did you fill the O2 sensor spot with on the HF Mani? |

good job, i like it. |
Re:5371 posts later, IM BOOSTED ~56K~
pretty nice, but you know you could have done it way cheaper then 500 bucks ;)
|
Re:5371 posts later, IM BOOSTED ~56K~

Great job on the install man. |
Re:5371 posts later, IM BOOSTED ~56K~
lol, the wg is a spring from a timing belt tensioner, and a piece of chain that came off an old screen door we jut took down. the thing about it is, all he has to do is hook the spring in to a different link on the chain to either lower or raise boost :D yeah, after frank grinded a hole in his block and the actuator still wasn't clearing, he started grinding some more :-X i was like 'let's just use a spring, i would have mentioned it earlier, but i thought you really wanted the actuator', so i feel kind of bad for not mentioning it before he decided to look in the crank case, the hard way :P

Re:5371 posts later, IM BOOSTED ~56K~

Re:5371 posts later, IM BOOSTED ~56K~
boost is so ------- awesome. i think the chain moved a little or something because last night on the way home, it was solid 6psi into 3rd gear (till the clutch let go)
from the stop, the cluch holds 100%, once I lay into it from even 10mph, the tach burries and you can smell clutch over the exhaust :-X its really ------- bad ass though. launch control is soo sexy. there was an ITR sittin at the stoplight, so i give him a little *ricer vroom* and he looks at me rolling his eyes. LOL, when i t was time for us to go, launch control, dump, and gone. he didnt even know what the ---- hit him. next stoplight, "holy ---- man, i woulda never known" -yea fucker. ;D clutch should be here by next weekend. ;) kevin, post up those vids/pictures :) :-* |

Re:5371 posts later, IM BOOSTED ~56K~
How exactly does that wastegate chain actuator work? Maybe I'm missing something completely obvious here so lemme know.

an internal wg has a little flapper inside the 'wg housing'that connecst to teh hotside of the turd. well, when that flapper is closed over the hole, the wg is closed, when the actuator opens the flapper at a certain psi, boost is regulated b/c the wg is open. instead of a big clunky vacuum/boost operated actuator, a spring holds the flapper shut, when enough boost is built, the spring won't be able to hold it any more and it will open, this can be adjusted by making the spring tighter (raising boost) and holding the flapper closed with more tension, or vice versa to lower boost..... |
Re:5371 posts later, IM BOOSTED ~56K~
Gotcha, that makes makes perfect sense now thanks :D
Sooo ghetto but I love it! Takes up way less space that the stock one. Did you guys just throw it out? |

LOL, nice one.
You know the webbing on the block _is_ there for a reason. |
Re:5371 posts later, IM BOOSTED ~56K~
accually kyle, im gonna make a thread with dr boost.-im just waiting on him now. it will be entitled "what it takes to be boosted"-not paid for by mom and dad. ;)
