250-300 whp turbo
I will be boosting at the end of summer, and have decided to increase my power goals, and am now having to reconsider what turbo will be best for my new plans. I have a d16y8 and it will keep the stock head, cam, and revlimit. I am not worried about having some turbo lag, but I want to get a good usable power band that will help for acceleration (1/4 mile). I am looking to get somewhere in the range of 260-290 whp, I deffinately will not be going over about 310 whp max on this setup. I am thinking something like a 57 trim compressor wheel,50AR compressor housing and 63AR turbine housing would be an appropriate setup. What do you guys think? I know some of you guys out there must have had some similar setups. Would this size turbo be a good choice? What other turbos should I consider? Where can I get a decent sized turbo that will be good for a good price? And what should I expect to pay for a turbo like this? I know I have alot of very generalized questions, so i am just looking for your opinions or estimates.
thanks,
RS

The T03/T04E or any T3/T4 is going to be a good choice and for a single stick the 57 trim seems to be quite popular. I don't see why it couldn't help you reach your goal, but 300whp on a D isn't all THAT easy.
Why maintain the stock cam? That could be used to help get you a little more power.
Price is probably around $300-$500 depending on alot of variables. Just look around at For Sale places and what not and even eGay sometimes. Just like any other turbo to buy, I really don't know any secret to finding one. LOL.
Other turbos to consider: Not a clue. People build D's and run .48/.60 and .63/.60 turbos and make nice power. You're closer to 300whp goal is more obtainable with the hybrid I would like to say though.
