Default 240sx Turbo project list and prices

I've priced things out and here's the things I will/have bought and the prices I expect to pay or have paid:

Custom Manifold (www.jgstools.com/turbo) - $150
WRX Turbo - $90
SR20DET Injectors - $70
Turbo XS MBC - FREE (friend loner)
Turbo XS BOV - $90 (don't need it but more of a WANT)
A/F and Boost Gauge - $60 total
Apexi AFC - $50 (old *** one)
Mitsubishi Sidemount IC - $50
Oil lines - $30
Vacuum lines - $15
Downpipe - Have some parts already from friend, the rest I'll have to get

So that's $605 plus downpipe costs. I might have to do with a DSM BOV afterall to keep costs around $500.

Otherwise, what do you guys think?

I would highly recommend the DSM 1g BOV. This is what I used and it worked well on MAF cars because you have to recirculate excess air back into the intake stream. Also keep an eye out for your fuel pressure, you may need to upgrade your fuel pump. Some good choices are the pumps from the 300zxTT, infiniti Q45, or the SR20DET

That's a good point. But I want that loud BOV noise! :P I was doing some thinking. I've heard from nissan people that some people actually place the MAF sensor AFTER the turbo in the middle of the charge pipe (most likely after the IC to avoid damaging the MAF from the hot air going through). So if that was the case, I could place the BOV (non-recirculating one) before the IC and still dump it out to atmosphere right? Do you think that sounds logical?

yes that is correct, its called a "blow-through" Maf set-up. Some of the 3S ( stealth/3000GT TT ) guys are starting to do it using the Maf off of the Z06 corvette. I know the GM Maf can handle the presure and temps without a problem, but I'm not sure about the nissan ones.. Either way your "figuring" is correct.

Placing the maf closer to the TB with also eliminate any false readings caused by IC piping leaks.

I also meat to meantion that the WRX TD04l-13T is going to be too small... The 2.4L just can't breath through that little turbine side..

Thanks for the info 89dxhunchback. So with this blow-through setup, do people use non-recirculating BOVs and just vent to atmosphere?

The turbo I have is TD04L-13G and according to the WRX guys on a 2.0L engine, it's good to about 14.7psi. So why wouldn't this work for me if I only plan on boosting around 7psi?

That reminds me...what's the cheapest method to make charge pipes? What do the most 'ghetto' people use? :P

the turbo may be good for 14.7 psi on a 2.0 engine with different flow than your engine, but yours may require a bigger turbo. look for compressor maps on the turbo and for a flow rate on your engine. I hope that 14.7 psi isn't on the absolute scale, it if is that turbo will give you 0 psi on the boost gauge.
