how hard is it to pop the wastgate open with my hand? or how hard should it be? because i can't get the sob to come open. Is there a method to test the wastgate? also what should i use to clean the inside of the turbo(compressor wheel exhaust and intake sides) before installing it?

 

it should just flop open when you turn the turbo over.

 

do you mean like with the actuator still attached? the actuator is the lil gold/silver can with the vacuum nipple on it and the rod coming out the back. its pretty stiff by hand, i think on 14B/T25 mitsus its like 8psi pressure to open it. but you should still be able to move it by hand, just take a lil force.

 

Its pretty ------ hard dude. lol I kinda pryed mine open.

 

I think mine is rusted shut or something this turbo looks like its been sitting for a while. I'll spray it with something and try again.

take the actuator off of the flapper and then see if its stuck.
