Ive been kind of quiet around here since my last track day.

Heres what Ive been doing in the mean time.

Just finished porting this z6 head today. Worked on it for about 5 or 6 hours.

Slight bowl work, guides only slightly cut. Nothing drastic. Exhaust side is pretty heavily ported.
Intake side only cleaned up with sanding rolls. Dont think theres much need to port a z6 intake side much larger than stock.
First time porting, pretty fun. Nothing like free power/torque.

Head is getting dropped off to get milled and have the valves seated tomorrow.

The Holset h1c got rebuilt by me and the wheels are getting balanced. Still waiting for them to get back to me.

Got some new z6 arp headstuds, Ive reused the old set over 10 times, thought it was time for a new set lol.

Pics will be up tomorrow of the new (used) exhaust manifold, and v-band flange welded to hot side of turbo.

Im sure ill run out of injector when Chris gets to tuning, but im gonna make the most of the 550's as possible.

Exhaust side looks ok... Intake looks like ----, hope it works out for you... Better detailed pics of the port floors would be nice... :8 :8 :8

It will go on once my wheels get back from balancing. Any day now. Hopefully will be on by the end of the week.

The intake side wasnt ported. Casting lines removed and the upper port hump was only slightly taken down. Basically wasnt enlarged or changed in shape.

But im done lol. Im happy with it, and the guy that looked at it for me told me it was just fine.

I didnt change much, so I doubt it could hurt it much.

It's missing the infamous "Joe" grafiti spray bombed all over it. :P Looks swell dude. What was wrong with the turbo why it needed to get rebuilt?

Do you plan on running the stock cam with the z6 head or is that being upgraded too? Still running the cast turbo mani or has that changed too? More pics!

Needed to be rebuilt because almost a year ago i ran he turbo without any oil for a day lol. The brake line I was using for a feed was clogged somehow and I had no idea.

It still runs fine, just smokes a bit so I thought Id rebuild it. Especially since ill be upping the boost :6

Stock cam, plenty of people have made good # on stock z6 heads and cam. Im no different.

No more cast mani, JG fab log mani. Pics will be up of it today.

Bulklshit, i can SEE that the intake side has been porte... not just deflashed. Looks like ----. Hope you didnt ---- it up. :1

Whichever has larger runners will perform better, typically that will be the log.

Cast manis are more durable though.

Its not BULLSHIT. I only used sanding rolls. 120 grit sanding rolls to be exact. Id be there for 8 hours at least PORTING the intake side with sanding rolls.

Biggest change was the roof hump that was only slightly removed. The edges of the port opening are probably a hair larger. No more than .5-1 mm at most.

Already been dynoed on the old setup with stock y7 head.

279 @ 23ish psi.

I want to see how much you gain over the cast manifold with that log since it looks exactly like mine and everyone has been telling me to get a cast manifold and I didn't want to hear it.It's going to be hard to tell what gains were from the head and which were from the manifold though but at least I will have an idea.

Got the head back today. Milled, valves cut, seats cut. 80 bucks well spent.

Gonna try and assemble the head tomorrow, everything but the cam gear since its still on my current running y7 head.

Steves thats not the head I picked up from you. It had a couple issues, but I am using the rocker assembly from it.

Ill get pics today. Its pretty much spotless.

Everything should be running by monday, then I just need to get a downpipe/dumptube welded up. And as soon as Chris is ready to tune Ill be there lol.

Cool guy, he told me I needed exhaust valve guides but I declined.

They are just fine IMO, just a bit loose. Tightened right up with the new valve seals in.

Mostly more volume and larger ports.

The cast mani unported has very small runners.

Wanted to take some pics of the new DP and Dumptube today but I forgot my cam at work.

Have some new pics up tomorrow.
