10.00 Ebay Boost Controller? Diy MBC?

So yes or no? Anyone have experience with this or know how to make your own boost controller at all? They're all over ebay for like ten dollars and really, every boost controller I saw that was manual looked like a few brass fitting t's and nipples anyway. Even the turboXs MBC looks like that. What's the deal?
