Default 02' WRX TD04-15g turbo

Has anybody tried using this turbo on their custom set-up? I'm asking because I compared my turbo (WRX 15g) to my friends 15g off the Greddy kit and the two don't look the same at all. It looks as if I might have some mounting problems. Can anybody shed some light?

The flanges are different, and I believe the WRX turbo is also smaller. I have a 2002 WRX but I have never seen in person the 15g from the greddy kit. The flange on the wrx is triangular, like all other subaru turbos, with three bolts, the greddy kit has a 4 bolt flange. The downpipe might fit.

I believe its a 13G instead of a 15g on the Greddy kits.

that would make sense if it is smaller.

Nope, both the Greddy and the 02' WRX use a 15g turbo. And this being true, I'm assuming the output of the 2 turbo's are similar, however I believe the wastegate on the WRX 15g is set at 10-11 psi.

I'm pretty sure the wrx turbo is a 13T. I'm gonna be using one and 89dxhunchback is currently using one on his D. It's kinda hard to work with(hard to clock) and I had to get a custom flange made for my mani.

wastegate actuator is 8psi. if you want more just use a boost controller (wrx uses an elec solinoid to up the boost) mbc will work fine. even though it's a td04, it is ever so slightly smaller than the greddy and does use the 3 bolt ihi flange for the inlet and a 5 bolt ihi for the outlet/downpipe. you can get the flanges from www.uniquemotorsports.com to make your adapterplate and downpipe. it's good to about 15psi. i've been using one for over a year and at 12psi for almost a year. good turbo if you're willing to make an adapterplate, clock it, and make an extension or custom mount for the actuator.

scttydb411: how are u liking the setup? When do u hit full boost? Ideally I want a turbo set-up that DOESN'T hit full boost until 3000rpm to make it easier for city driving, but it seems kinda far fetched on a small turbo like the wrx td04. Anyways, can u also get into more detail on your set-up, specifically the manifold. thanx

Nice set-up. what kinda numbers are u running now with uberdata? and how much did u pay for your turbo? I paid about $150US for mine which i think is a good price.
