ok i saw this post and had to register. the opposite hole is for a factory egr. sounds like you got an early model garrett. no big deal. you can get a 2.5in o2 housing or what we like to call the swing valve. 3in is proably worthless on that turbo. we max that turbo out around 240-250whp on an 8v 2.2. good turbo.

how would i hook up the 2 port actuator? can i cap off one of the fittings and use it as a normal actuator and get a manual boost controller?

just a extra tip. On the welding of the internal waste-gate. I have a turbo setup that the turbo has a internal waste-gate and external waste-gate. Now i went overboard but i have welded shut the internal valve on past ones and they can crack at the weld because of the heat. you could make a bracket to keep it closed or use the old waste-gate unconnected to keep it closed. I use two because I had one( from past project) the internal one is set to stock driving and the external one is vented to the air and set for the track or when I want more power which it can take. That's just my two cents

i plan on using my internal wastegate i think.that is if i can figure out how to use my 2 port wastegate can.what i found although the site was for a 2 port external but i think the bottom port gets pressure from manifold or from turbo and the top gets manifold pressure but it has to be regulated which i believe i could do with a manual boost controller and if this is right and i hope one of you can explain a little further if this would work and how well. if this would work i could leave everything else as is except for weld the extra 02 hole so i can move the wideband down stream further

IIRC, the bottom port ALWAYS gets vacuum pressure, and the upper port gets boost pressure. To regulate those they had restrictors and bleeds in the "boost/top" line.

The easiest way to make it work is to get a single line wastegate can. Lemme do some looking, and I will more than likely have one for you.

ok that would be great man. i really wanted to keep it internally gated for simplicity and i alrealy have a manual boost controller and i already have my wastegate off the turbo because im in th process of clocking it but i have some seized bolts in the hot side im gonna have to cut and drill since the torch a pair of vice grips and the vice werent enough. let me know what ya find

and if not would it be a possibility if i hooked up vacuum to the bottom port and boost to the top port with the manual boost contoller inline to regulate the top pressure? sorry it takes me so long to respond but for some reason my email notification doesnt work for this thread i need to start cheking it more

Im not 100% sure on that one, I myself havent done enough research on them to give you a definitive answer. Everythings worth trying once!
