$400 Used T3/T4 Kit - Worth It?
I know that sounds like another stupid noob question, but I still need your opinions. Basically, I'm trying to part together for my turbo project.
I actually have a set of DSM 450cc injectors already. My friend has a d series kit that has a t3/t4. It should include everything except piping and wastegate. Obviously there will still be a lot of things I will need to get too (i.e. guages, electronics, engine management, etc), but I figured at the very least paying for a mildly used turbo, manifold and SM intercooler would be worth the $400 for a start.
My dilemma is simply that I know the t3/t4 is a little big for my goals (~9lbs and hopefully 220whp), but the price for the kit is right. I don't really know for sure how good of condition the turbo is in, but I can pretty much guarantee that it isn't in bad shape. Should I even bother buying the kit? Or should I buy the kit, then sell or trade the turbo for something smaller?
So, is anyone here using a t3/t4 with their ZC? If so, how do you like it? I hear they take a bit longer to spool, but make good numbers. I was originally thinking about just using a 14b or t3.
Any input would be greatly appreciated...

Re: $400 Used T3/T4 Kit - Worth It?
Well I actually don't know all the specs on the turbo, but the guy said that he thought it was around a upper 40's trim. But I did find out that he didn't even use the turbo and that it's a fresh rebuild, so that's definitely a plus. Will a 1/2 radiator be needed for this turbo on my CRX?
He also said that he thought I should hit full spool around 3k or so, but I'm skeptical of that. I think if it were even like up to a 52 trim I would be cool and hit full spool by about 4500 or so. Not to mention, I've got 450 injectors too, so if I eventually wanted to build the motor a little bit and go for more boost, I would have that room to grow.
Now, the only trick is to get a setup that will get it to spool as fast as it can. I'm thinking 2.5" charge piping and a side mount would be a good start. Along with a good sized dp. That should free up some flow. I have a 2.5" exhaust already, so that should be fine, but I might have to change up the muffler or put in a hi flow cat or something.
What do you guys think.

Re: $400 Used T3/T4 Kit - Worth It?
So I went and checked it out last night. It looks good. There is NO shaft play and it was balanced (I asked). I still don't know the exact specs, but if I had to guess, I would say it's about a 50 trim wheel. So basically I'm just getting the turbo, IC and manifold for $400, which isn't bad at all. I'm most likely gonna go for it...
