I personally would use it. Just use the proper filler wire, bevel any butt joints, clean the metal after you grind it and keep in mind the duty cycle of your welder and the maximun weldable thickness. What is questionable are the design of the engine mounts, post up you pics/ideas.

how thick of metal do you plan on using with your welder. if you got a gas bottle and cranked the welder up you should be able to burn through the metal, so i dont see why you couldent get good penitration.

I wouldnt trust a 110 to weld anything that needs to support anything. Good for pipes and little stuff, but just tack weld your ---- and take it to a real weldor....

tungsten, filler rods: 30 bucks
80 cf filled argon bottle: 160 bucks
regulator: 60 bucks

thats around $250 plus the $200 for the tig, thats only about 450 bucks for everything, not seeing this other 150 bucks.

how about mask, gloves, stainless brushes, a grinder to grind tungsten if yu dont have one, differnt cups for your torch, trust me the AT LEAST 600 dollars is there.

not to mention, youll have to either rewire your garage for 220v or run a huge 10/3 extnsion cord like i did, which will run you another 100 right there.

yea, if you figure in wiring a 220, thats a bitch, i just ran a socket right off my dryer which was right through the wall from my work bench. yeah, a TIG setup is not cheap but worth it when its all done. with the scratch start on my DC machine, it works really well, no complains about it.

i ran a socket off my dryer and 75 feet of 10/3 cord, plus cord caps, it was 96 bucks.

I run a scratch start for all my stainless work with 0 problems.
high freq can't hold up in the feild no to mention 20 ft up and trying to work a pedal is near impossible
