welder to make mounts? is a 110 good enough?

i have a 110 fluxcore, but it has the gas option, so if i get the gas and run the gas wire, will it lay down strong enough beads to make mounts with? or is that a bit iffy? i was considering getting the harbor freight tig for 200 bucks because that woudl probably make for some nice strong mounts. but i dunno. so yea

i think the 110 mig wont have the seack for any kind of real penetration.

the tig is a better bet, but the hf ones are scratch start.

and thats gay

scartch start isnt that bad though right? i'll probably just end up getting that welder, it lays down nicer beads than mig, and i'll have to make custom manifolds/ crossover pipes. so i might as well get the better welder

you do realize, besides the 199 tig, you need tungsten, rod, a bottle, and a regulator right.

itll rend up running you close to 600 to even get it going.

fluxcore loves thick metal
turn it up full blast and very slow
itll hold no problem

just learn how to use the welder. I can lay beads with an oxy/acetelyn setup, nicer then any beads ive seen anyone post on here, thats been done with GTAW.

anything i welded was never structural, like intercooler pipes n ----. so what should i do? just go with a 220 mig?

Just get some scrap that's the thickness you're going to make your mounts with and try a few practice beads and adjust your machine until you are happy with the penetration, wirespeed etc. Heck, 0.125 thick steel on a 110V machine should be very doable with either flux-cored (0.035) or solid (0.030-0.035) wire with any style joint you'd have to fabricate.

just go nice and slow with the flux and itll work fine, Ive made plenty of sturty ---- already and Ive probably only welded 3 hours total, frame rail, manifold, workbench, engine hoist

Sounds like you dont know what ur getting into tho, dont waste ur money
