if you CLEAN the metal before spraying it, it will hold just fine |

the trick is to put the paint on thin. I've found the barbecue paint works great on everything but turbo manifolds and close to the turbo on the downpipe. (a neat trick with barbecue paint, after you paint the part, rub it down with some crumpled up newspaper and it get's this cool glossy tarnished look :) )
For turbo mani and DP I've found the 1200+ degree duplicolor stuff works great. If you put it on thick it will crack with expansion/contraction and eventually flake off. My first attempt with a turbo mani I gave the part 3-4 nice even coats, but this flaked off in no time. If you do 1 or 2 really light coats, just the bare minimum to cover, it will last a long time, I've got 10,000miles on mine and although it's faded and chipped in a couple places where I hit with a wrench, it's still pretty much clean and shiny looking. For prep, degrease with break cleaner, sand it/wire brush the welds, then use a metal etcher like POR15 MetalReady I still prefer true ceramic coating, keeps the temps down. Neil |

The VHT flameproof paint does work on turbo manifolds. I've had it on for almost a year and it hasn't chipped, cracked, burned off, or any bullshit like that. You just have to follow the instuctions on the back of the can
