That's because the torch connection is connected to the (-) terminal inside the machine. I'm sure you can figure out why it wouldn't strike an arc.
DCEN or DC- implies the connection of the tig torch which is on the negative.

Over winter I'm adding spherical bushings in the uca's in the rear.
