Weird, it looks so much bigger than my manifold, i guess its just cause the manifold itself is smaller.

well actually 2 and 3 are restrictive becuse of the studs that hold the turbo to the manifold. also the 4efte will always crack the #2 or 3 piston, rarely 1 or 4.

That's an odd thing to happen to the cyls that flow the poorest, as they get the richest mixtures and the most conservative timing. The tunes must be completely off - #1 or #4 is pinging causing the ECU to pull so much timing it's in a knock feedback loop that overheats the piston, exhaust valve going thermonuclear and becoming a hotspot for pre-ignition - or there's a SB2/LT1 like problem where the inner bores aren't clearanced as big from the factory as the outer ones.

Yeah, I meant 5EFE.... proofreading owns me

I dont think there'd be a hope in hell of getting even 2 of those bolt holes to line up on an S series.

As far as the restriction, yeah, just look inside the runners.

JD, what your saying sounds the most logical. It seems like the problems occur when people crank that ---- up. It would make sense that the ECU wants to pull more timing (based on 1 and 4) causing the issue on 2 and 3. Seems to me that issue would be more pronounced with higher boost levels.

I hadnt really thought of it like that before (i just heard it was an issue) , but it makes good sense.

Most Toyota people I meet are drivers and enthusiasts, seldom wrenches and never electronics savants. Given what the MR2 community holds up as it's prize members - Ricky B with his abortion of an EMS, and noshoes with his double standards and cluelessness on basic levels, others - and that the St00pra crowd is a bunch of moneybags with no fundamental understanding and a basic ASSumption that the more it costs the better it is; the tech information distribution network for the backyard Toyota enthusiast is crippled. I'm not surprised people are stumbling over basic ---- like which cylinder is weakest, and why, with high profile douchenozzles like that distracting everyone from real tech. That's sad because the average Toyota guy isn't a n assclown like Evo, Scooby, Honduh, or V8 *******.

Yeah, theres not NEARLY as much informations as there is for Honda.

----, when I put together my ghetto as ---- Tercel, all I heard was "it cant be done, impossible, it'l blow up". Im not sayign it was a crown jewel as a technical acheivment or anything, but anything technical like came from here. The Toyota comunity didnt have a clue. "Swap a 4EFTE" "You have to take it to BYP", thats about it.

p.s. Dont worry, Toyota has its fair share of assclown too
