Looks like you have done a nice job on that. Cast isn't easy to weld, and you still managed to make it look as good as can be done.
However, the reasoning for doing it, I question. Not yours, as you're probably doing it for the money. THe question I have is that I wonder what this will do for cooling. With higher boost, the need for cooling will increase. |

With higher boost, the need for cooling will increase. the customer explained that it is a weak part of the head... not sure if the head gasket blows out there or if the actual combustion chamber is weak there. i'm not sure, but i don't think it is going to effect coolant flow a whole lot as the jacket goes across the head, not along it, but i could be wrong. i will clarify with him when he picks it up. |

I'd have to bet my money that it would hinder flow. If that area wasn't needed for flow, they likely wouldn't have had it there, and would have had the strength instead. If that hinders flow, but the car is still able to maintain proper temp, it may still create a restriction that will cause the water pump to work harder....robbing more power from the engine.
I'm interested in the results to see what the actual outcome is though. Keep us posted if possible. |
