Just about done with the cage install, got about 3 inches of weld left to do but ran out of gas.

Also had to relocate the gauges, the a-pillar pods don't fit anymore. Used a piece of 16 gauge aluminum I was using as a heat shield for welding, heating and cutting.

looks good. Nice heavy plates on the floor so it doesnt punch through.

The guys that took chassis fab at wyotech said you should have the cage as close to the roof and B pillers as possible. I forgot for what reason but I know it was a safty reason. And the plates you weld them to are for ------ing out the weight for when your car rolls over so it doesn't punch right though the floor. And your welds should be as perfect as you can make them. I didn't take chassis fab but I took collision/refinishing and Street rod. Right at where your welds meet the base metal the metal is very hard and brittle. You have to watch your heat so not to get it too hot and not to cold. If you don't your weld could break off or crack right along the edge. Have fun.

What is the exact gap between main hoop and B-pillar? Whip out that tape measure, if you please, I'm very curious. :)

1 1/4-1 1/2 on the upper half of it, more on the bottom. It would be easy to tweak it to fit tighter, just wasn't a concern for me.
