ya, outside that's nuts.

I at least have mine in a 1500sq ft shop!!

Way to go though, do you have any experience welding/body work/ chassis work before? if not have fun!!!!

Re: rhd conversion is underway (run 56k, run!

You are definitely crazy? :P What is wrong with LHD? ??? That seems like one hell of a project. And yeah, you are doing it outside. :o Do you actually think you are gonna get it done by Jan. 2? I can't believe you can tear apart a perfectly good car like that. And just so you can drive from the other side. You got balls! Good luck man! Much respect. O0

Re: rhd conversion is underway (run 56k, run!

I've never seen anyone tear the lower windshield "support" out with it. I thought you were supposed to seperate the firewall from the windshield "support" and then weld the new firewall in. I guess the windsshield has some adjustement when it comes to installing it, I've just never seen it done that way.

Outside????? jigga you crazy. O0

im sorry, nice job on the effort, but thats such a waste of time and money.

Re: rhd conversion is underway (run 56k, run!

i finished welding the wall in yesterday, seam sealed and everything. i also put most of the car back together last night.
ill be done way before the 2nd. im on winter break from school and i have no job... so i put in a good 12 hrs a day on it.
as for the welding, i had a friend who is a professional sheet metal worker help me fit and weld it. we took alot of measurements and everything fell back into place perfectly. also, i got the rhd drive clip for free... thats what inspired me to do it. a friend of mine who doesnt know ---- about cars bought the clip for the motor. i did the swap for him and i got the rhd clip as payment. i sold all the unused parts from my car and the rhd clip, and so far im ahead 60 bucks!

im not really jdm crazy or anything, also i like some of the "jdm" goodies... i just did it so i could turn heads and gain some knoledge while doing it.

Re: rhd conversion is underway (run 56k, run!

Wow, want to come and help me with mine? I'm to busy with the rest of my build that I've paused my conversion.

Stealth, My Windsheild support is coming out. It's the only feasable way on a 88-91. I had my Bro-in-Law consult my on that one. He has done firewall replacements before, not for RHD, but for Chassis Repairs.

As for the mAd TyYe JdM crap. That's not the reason why I'm doing it, and it may not be his. I detest the JDM Craze. I just wanted something different. I know you all say you see RHD everyday, but in my small area of pickup trucks and rustangs I WILL be the only one.

I wanted to say the same thing, even if the clip was semi-free it's a waste of time, IMO. But that is a significant job of work to undertake. Much respect for the effort. I hope it comes out clean and looking like sex for you.

can you not just import from Japan?

Re: rhd conversion is underway (run 56k, run!

A whole car?

Yeah, and then it's a hassle and a half to get a title for it. FL titling is "supposed" to be easy, but that's hearsay and most importers don't want to give away their secrets.

Re: rhd conversion is underway (run 56k, run!

heres an update...

on tuesday, i couldnt get much work done on the car. why? beacuse fpl decided that the utility pole infront of my house (and right under my car) needed to be replaced, it was damaged by hurrican wilma. i was pissed, but the power crew (came all the way from michigan) changing it was pretty funny. plus when they put the street light back up, they angled it so that its over my house so i can work at night [:)]

http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...ZkMzF5NTQx.jpg
http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...ZkMzF5NTQx.jpg

so while i was waiting, i decided i would swap the front door harnesses...

http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...ZkMzF5NTQx.jpg
http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...ZkMzF5NTQx.jpg
http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...ZkMzF5NTQx.jpg

and here are some i snapped yesterday, with the motor and dash in...

http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...ZkMzF5NTQx.jpg
http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...ZkMzF5NTQx.jpg
http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...ZkMzF5NTQx.jpg

so far all is well, everything fits back into place really good.. i have to swap a few wires such as the rear turn signals and for some reason my 3rd brake light isnt working... does any one know if jdm cars have a 3rd brake light?

as for the engine harness, i have a local lead one, im waiting to hear back from the guy, if not im just going to dissasemble mine and stretch the needed wires.

Most people would have lost heart and not gotten half as far as you have.

Re: rhd conversion is underway (run 56k, run!

no 3rd lights for JDM. Good job with the conversion

I have a RHD EG6 harness, its basically the same thing, just no Butterfly's.

You have some ------- balls for trying that on your daily driver. good work.

JDMFantasy2K 12-23-2005 03:27 PM

Re: rhd conversion is underway (run 56k, run!

---- me that's nuts. JDM at heart i guess. If you have a spoiler with a brake light, then you should shave off the 3rd brake light on your rear deck, otherwise tap into the others.

MikeJ-2009 12-23-2005 07:41 PM

Re: rhd conversion is underway (run 56k, run!

I have a RHD complete harness as well, but I don't know what the hell Josh is talking about when he says "butterfly's". ???

I doubt it. Those butterflies aren't part of the engine harness, thier actuated by vac., and the butterflies on gsr only integra's, were never offered in the EG model. That's why I say I doubt it. ;)

yes and no stealthy. the butterflies are controled by the iab control box that is hooked up to vacuum thats controlled by the ecu
