because i didnt weld the inisde yet faghat. no point in full penetration on your top pass unless your backpurging so, i would rather not send a mani out filled with "sugar" ::)

Josh, you are posting this today. That is the same manifold that you told me was sent to my customer already. So, where is my tracking number? I understand that you also may have taken the pictures before sending the manifold out...... either way, I'm sick of ------- waiting for your reply. Give me a tracking number......... jay all the welds are double passed on that manifold. the collector was singler passed them i weld the inisde of it after.

That is nearly impossible to do, and 100% impossible to do, leaving anything other than rounded seams inside. Any that have full penetration and sharp edges have been ground back that way after welding. To do that, I'd give nearly a 100% guarantee that they reduce the wall thickness grastically.

Nopie...it's the other way around. The first pass is the one that should get your penetration into the inside, unless you are welding it from both sides.

Whether 100% penetration is actuall necessary is still a debatable issue though.

Hotrex...a suggestion: I can tell you're dabbing the wire. You're keeping the wire in close to the puddle, which is good. It keeps the end of the wire from getting contaminated between each dip. I can tell this from the color and cleanliness of the welds. However, you may find that if you just leave the wire in the puddle, play with torch angle and arc length, do a slight Z weave pattern to make the filler tie in smoothly on each side, that things will look more consistent.

well personally those welds look kick ass, hotrex quick question how do you keep that nice coloration on your welds when im done welding i have a bunch of black ---- on them. its anoying as ---- seening nice welds like urs and not being able to make them. and im using the smiley welder.

i have been prepping the metal alot better lately, stainless only wire wheel, then wipe it with acetone, got a gas lense instead of a collet like you have.

that and lots of hrs of practice.
