Poor Man's exhaust cut-out

Re: Poor Man's exhaust cut-out
I was thinking about doing something like this with a throttle body...but instead of using a cable, take the setup for the IABs off a GSR or H22 manifold and hook up the vacuum box, solenoid and lever to a throttle body. That way you can turn it on and off automatically.
I'll rig up something one of these days...
nice job though

My rear muffler is so restrictive (wanted quiet and I got it). Im probably getting a good 20whp with the cutout open. It's like night and day.

Re: Poor Man's exhaust cut-out
I'm doing something similar, except its a different sort of ghetto. I found someone selling decent cables on ebay ($12 for two 60"), cut a slightly ovaled circle, made it fit in a 3" exhaust tube section, and welded a 1/4" rod on it that's supported by 500F-rated bushings, held in nuts welded to the tube. The springs I got are a bit too strong, but the 8lb solenoid can still open it. When I get eCtune, I'm wiring it to a TPS-triggered output, so at WOT it switches to the 2nd maps & opens the cutout. Next month I hope to make it all stainless with a [3.26" ID] 3" sch10 pipe.
FYI most moostang tb's are around 75mm, q45's are like 90mm, and dime-a-dozen d-series TB's are 56mm for obd1&2. And it appears that Jeep 4.0 TB's are 55.5mm.

Kind of an old thread, but this is probably the best thing I have read yet on HMT.
I love ---- like this. I'm gonna go hit up a jy for a Q45 tb now. The choke cable sounds like it will work like a champ.
