It was 308L rod. When I made that I was welding at a very high amp. Around 165.

Chuck did a little demo today at the boost factory welding day.
Took two pieces of flat metal. One mild, the other stainless. Put them in a vise together, and welded the top. Heated them with a torch and the two metals started to curve over because of the different expansion characteristics of the metals.
Made his point on here much easier to understand. makes sense now that using mild and stainless in the same manifold is asking for problems.
I have a CSAddict/dave manifold identicle to aaron's. Works fine. No structural problems that I can see.

A lot of good points made in this thread. My question is why haven't we seen this before? With all the back yard "fab" shops and everyone using SS weld els it should of poped up before. Why is this the first?
