Yeah, I think on schedule 10 SS it would make it really brittle from that.

Chuck did a little demo today at the boost factory welding day.

Took two pieces of flat metal. One mild, the other stainless. Put them in a vise together, and welded the top. Heated them with a torch and the two metals started to curve over because of the different expansion characteristics of the metals.

Made his point on here much easier to understand. makes sense now that using mild and stainless in the same manifold is asking for problems.

I have a CSAddict/dave manifold identicle to aaron's. Works fine. No structural problems that I can see.

nobody uses stainless flanges because they expand and contract soo much!!

A lot of good points made in this thread. My question is why haven't we seen this before? With all the back yard "fab" shops and everyone using SS weld els it should of poped up before. Why is this the first?

If welded properly and prepped properly you can weld ms flanges and stainless el's no problem. I know from experience and dont talk out of my ***.
