mazdaspeed3 down pipe

Re: mazdaspeed3 down pipe
i think the catted ones are ~$600, i dont keep up with the prices. lifetime garuntee on craftsmanship and 5 years on the cat, no CEL either.
the speed3 is quite the sleeper. bolt ons and tuning can hit mid-low 13's on street tires ~300-310whp ~360-370lb/ft. the stock turbo compressor is about the size of a gt2871r, though the turbine is small, like most oem stuff.
the stock engine managment is horrible, drive by wire closes the throttle near redline and also limits power in 1-3 gears. the only car comparable is the SRT but the speed3 is a much nicer car. only problem is the ---- factory borg warner/hitachi turbo's. there is a recall out for them now, smoking at idle and part throttle. then eventually james bond smokescreen all the time

the cast portion isnt stock. designed in CAD and the cast. the opening at the turbo is almost equal to a four inch dia pipe, no porting needed.

Wooden fixtures FTW. THAT is what fire extinguishers are for :P
I'm surprised that so many are being snatched up. From what I hear, the semi-AWD MS6 isn't selling all that great. Maybe because people see numbers and would rather squeel with FWD than grip. Looks nice, but I've never been a fan of machining every face off a block that doesn't interface with another surface. Coldcut saws FTW.

the MS6 wasnt a great seller in comparison to an STi or Evo but they sold all 10k of them in 2 years. i think a lot of people who bought them arent "car guys" just guys wanting a faster type car
