I am writting my jourynmans test next week And I am telling you, you can't get a proper weld with a flux core, I have also done it but under a proper bend test it will fail 99% of the time. The reason it dos not get the proper penitration is due to the carbon content of cast, if you notice, when using flux core you get a ---- load of slag, and perosity. I am talking about a structrally sound weld, not a weld that may or may not hold. If you would like I can find the 2 chapters that cover this in the b pressure manuals I am currently going over, asn the portions of ist, and second year welding that I challenged

.hopefully its not another piece of ----, but consideriing the price it probly is

Alright boys, First thanks alot for the help I went back over the whole thing Slow and hott. Just to get it straight penetration is slight deformation and or discoloration(red, blue, yellowish)? If thats right its not goin anywhere its 4 in the morning here and I just couldn't sleep not knowing so I went ouside and parked my truck on top of it by the time I got the camera the truck slid off. ( ever try to drive a car on ramps and they keep scooting?) well alls well no cracks no bending nothing. I'll try to get more pictures after the holiday. If your wondering giving a 60/40 weight distrubution given left and right are equal then it had about 900 to 1100 lbs. Does that mean anything? well to me it does. Thanks again guys ! I'm also planning on buying a smiley combo next month ! DL

hanging a 10 lb turbo is not a bend test.

ask any of the ne crew. i made a similar mani out iof a y7 manifold, exhaust pipe happemered around for a collector and a ---- t3 flange, all welded together in my driveway with a flux core 90 amp mig. over 1 yr later, its till being used and was recently seen being sold on ebay for 150 bucks...

hahahaha dude, you can flux core that just fine and most likely will never have an issue

I used my HF fluxcore and welded ---- loads of cast and has yet to crack on any of it. Yeah you can talk all the pish posh about how it's not right but just like Hotrex said "real world experience has shown me it will work time and time again." I did the same thing with using a y7 manifold and a mild steel t3 flange and that ****** held like no other. I had that ****** glowing cherry red and never cracked or nothing. So take your journeyman ---- and take it to HT and post a rate my welds post like everyone else. I don't care if a bead looks like a hotrex's ********* with genital warts. If it holds then thats fine with me.

Speak brotha spreak! There comes a time though. Once they start looking like meat curtains with more weld laying onto of the metal then actually inside then thats when I draw the line. ---- warts...hey it fluxcore so it's gonna leave ---- all over(no gas), ********* warts... that cool, meat curtains... oh no hell no! I don't like them on a woman and the same goes for any thing I'm fabricating. It's all about penitration
