It should have two settings on DC though shouldnt it?. DCEN (tig) DCEP (stick). If it only has one setting the wires could be switched. If you tig weld on DCEP much more heat goes into the tungsten and it melts(or blows up which is pretty sweet )



Or he's just dipping into the puddle

on a side note i started tig in my welding class today. seems like ill like it. i was getting tired of grinding it . i was to far away from the grinder last welding booth in the school witch is about 30 feet or something like that. but i was having fun just running some beeds without filler rod. ill use filler rod on wednesday. i dont believe you can go threw a full tank of argon in 4 hours. because i was welding tig for about 3 hours today the other two i was finishing up oxy acy with bronze-flux.

do i stick the ground clamp into the plus or minus port right now i have it in the plus because i couldn't get it to arc in the minus side.

the clamp goes onto the pos side and torch on the neg

i cant plug the torch in the plus side it goes in between the plus and minus

that didnt make any sense. Even so i dont think the plus side of your machine has a small port that allows gas to flow. But i really don't know how those smiley units work. On my machine it has a small port in the neg side that feeds gas to my torch.
