thats a very far amount of time to get a part. Even if you were in a hurry thats a very honest job

This is Sam (Dad)

I tried that too, when I first started, but wound up with a bunch custom made flanges with Logos...etc that the customers did not have money to pay for when they were ready to ship. Also I had other customers who insisted on paying immediately, so I changed to a priority order system based on reciept of the payment. This does not mean that because you place a new order, you will not recieve shipment until all orders ahead of yours have shipped. I base my runs on the orders waiting, which means that the highest priority order dictates the part to be run, but not the quantity. Therefore, if your order has the same items and they become available, then your new order may also be filled at the same time. It is not a perfect system, but it works for now. Currently I do not make any flanges for new customers w/o reciept of payment, unless there have been many request by others for the same flanges and there is no LOGO on it. I also have industrial customers which I must juggle with the flanges. Bassically I have 4 machines now. Two are primarily dedicated to the flanges, and two are primarily dedicated to the other work. Some of my other work has been waiting for 6 mos for payment, so even the industrial orders are not always good. To top that off, special materials sometimes runs into the $thousands and all of the cost (I do not use credit for materials) must be borne by me until the customer makes the payment.

Thanks to those who still support James and me. I apologize to those who haven't recieved "good customer service", or thier parts in a more timely fashon. I seldom get on the computer, and when I do, I answer as many e-mails as I can in the little time I have. (I'm only here now because of a storm overhead, so the machines are off). My primary intent is to please my customers with reasonable price and as much quality as the price will allow. I do not employ a customer services rep so that reduces overhead, and your price. I do not employ machinist (or others) either for the same reason. Instead, I invest in automated machinery to make more parts with. I do not currently stock anything other than a few extras I make in order to try to catch up, so most orders are made to order. I have concidered stocking some fast moving items, but if I do, I will need to sell at retail prices to realize profit on my investment, and ship same day with express shipping only, so that will cost the customer more than most of my customers are willing to pay. I'm already working 7 days a week, minimum of 10 hours a day, so I cannot work any harder to fill orders. Most of my orders are 2-3 weeks behind (from reciept of payment), but most real machine shops run 6-10 weeks behind. You may find someone like me when I first started in my garage who can get work out faster, but unless you pay a premium price it is hard to find a full blown shop that can. If it is a new design, it may take me two months or more. And for those who think quoting a timeline is easy, try quoting for a while. You quote 10 jobs as accurately as you can expecting to get them all, and you will be way out there on delivery and get none(trouble...no work). Quote the next 10 jobs expecting to get one of them, and you may get half of them(...now you are in trouble, cannot deliver but one on time if you do not run into other trouble). Cash flow always dictates that you have to get more work to keep the cash flowing, but slipping timelines get you into more and more trouble. There is a very fine line anyone in business has to watch to keep it all balanced, and it is often difficult to balance. Some of you may say that I need to hire someone who is good at managing a business (increases overhead again and your price), but I got into business to get away from someone dictating to me what to do. I have managed the machining at two profitable shops. If I cannot manage the rest, then I will do the best I can. Sooner or latter owning your own business becomes a job too, so it is not always what we all would like it to be. I still enjoy my life better, even working the long hours I do, especially because I get to spend time with my family when they can be around. My previous jobs required my time away from the family, and I think this is part of what is wrong with many American Families.

Got to go...storm has passed! Happy Boostin!!! - Sam

my only real issue was trying to get a d series intake flange. there were 2-3 emails that got my hopes up on getting it done and then i never heard anything ever again. if you cant do it just tell me and i will get it somewhere else, but still be happy to do buisness with you for the things you can do. that just gave me a bad vibe about buying anything from them. my HF/t3 adaptor was a high quality product though. they do good work, they just need to work on their customer service skills

I ordered my stuff from Sam and it came in a week and a half. That in my mind is great for custom made items. His prices are great and his product is THE BEST on the market by far. I ONLY buy my flanges from Sam and will continue to.
