Re: New Turbo Manifold
im currently in school for engineering, and we are working with autocad, pro-e, and solidworks, im gunna take katia (sp?) next year i think. but im waiting to see, since im going for industrial design and not anything really related to this, its just my hobby.
i was bored in class again and began to design the shift linkage, haha.

Re: New Turbo Manifold
You really should do some FEA on that frame, if nothing else, it will give you an indication of any stress buildups which could be alleviated (improving frame life) or excessive metal to reduce weight.
I'm sure you can find a download on the internet.
I'd also wager you'd love the change to solidworks, it makes autocad look really backwards, only old people still use it for fear of changing to a more modern drafting package.
One final point, had a look at the gotech website, the ecu seems alright (competitively featured), i just hope your not paying too high a price for it, megasquirt is comparably just as powerful and better supported.

Re: New Turbo Manifold
am busy with solidworks2006 torrent.... will that have it....
rollbars are part of the design, just need to find a damn place that knows how to use there equipment.
the old guy that seemed to know all there is to know about bending tubes, made me a couple of roll-bars that almost made me puke....
deformed and rippled on the inside.., like what happens if the mandrel is not the right size for the tube.... if he thinks I'm going to weld that ---- onto my frame, he's wrong...

Re: New Turbo Manifold
I was looking at building a locost and small little things like windshield wipers are needed in order to get a road legal. Silly but yes. Kinda ruins the flow of a car like that but it may be different in your state. This is pretty informative.

Re: New Turbo Manifold
have you decided on how to do the shift linkage yet? i have seen a few different air cooled VW dune buggys that do a mid-engine conversion from the standard rear engine and they make adapter kits for this, didn't know if you were planning to go that route or if you had decided to do a cable or hydro lines.
here is a link to one of the rod shift linkage kits for the conversion

its down the page some, here is the pic of it, not in use though
