psst... that was fixed a few pages back... the car is all done, and just change it at a different spot in the pivot point to change it from forward to backwards...

it should.... it's the inspiration.....

the gear linkage is a solid shaft, and the gears do not change when you move the engine back. It still works exactly like it did in the car it came from...

Quick question..... What's almost better than sex?

anybody? no...........

To see the fear in the eyes of a Porsche driver, as you pull in beside him at a red T-Light....

They say that the anticipation of defeat is worse than loosing itself.... :6

any ideas on how fast it is? Like quater mile times or top speed?

Not to nitpick, but your wastegate should be located where all the runners come together. Someone may have told you this already, i didnt read all 5 pages.

And yes, it definately gets the "most ballin'st ---- 'eva" award. I want one; with lots of boost.

What size are your charge pipes? They look tiny as hell in the pics

That looks to be the only flaw with your design. I do Formula SAE where we build a car similar to what you have there but smaller and n/a. Ne wayz, we had numerous issues trying to use rod ends as your doing there, no matter the strength. We must have used 5 grand worth of rod ends. Some of the engineers from GM were looking at our car and they explained that even though in SolidWorks or CATIA it may look like the rod is only in tension and compression, in reality as the whole suspension and even the hub flexes under load, the rod end ends up in pure bending were they are very week. Have you considered spherical bearings or maybe something with only one degree of freedom? Those are M10 or M12?

The nose reminds me of the Enzo. What a great display of ingenuity, the car looks great, and i bet it will drive just as good if not better.

Props to you, hombre. :8

Re: homemade Sportscar,with a turbo.

------ awesome. I never saw this post until today. I was actually doing some research for a project i am developing that will be very similar and stumbled upon this. The only difference is that it will use a Honda engine. I was debating using the h series transmission as it is cable actuated but after seeing your simple solution i am back to thinking B series. My goal is to have the entire car weigh around 1200 lbs and have about 500 rwhp. I need to get some engine measurements and start my cad modeling then FEA analysis. If you have a chance to get this thing on some scales i would love to know what your weight distribution is like.

NICE WORK!

Re: homemade Sportscar,with a turbo.

I might have missed it but would you also be able to mention the track width and wheelbase? I am also curious what size wheels those are! I have many many many questions but that will suffice for now.

Based off of similar cars i have seen built i would guess between 14 and 18 thousand.

wtf is a racecar-looking wheel and why does he care about looks?

Re: homemade Sportscar,with a turbo.

more or less $22K yes, depending on the exchange rate, and not including all the work. this is however the prototype, and the time spent on it makes this one way more expensive than that.... but nr2, 3, 4 etc will be much cheaper than the first one and faster to build too....

track width is 1.9m
wheel base is 2.26m

these rims are 15j6 with 30mm offset.
