I'm looking at the service manual and it says that the white wire is the signal wire. Unless you got some jacked up O2 sensor, please don't post false info.
If you want to check for sure, just disconnect the O2 plug, start the car, wait for it to warm up, and check the white and green wire for polarity. Whichever is "positive" is the signal wire. The stock O2 sensor will put out voltage when it is warm and there is fuel vapor. The reaction inside the sensor creates the voltage across the two wires. Think of it as a 1V powerplant that needs heat and fuel vapor to create voltage.
