HEIM Joints - Building My Own Traction Bars? Best design? Best Price?
Im going to make 2 sets of traction bars for myself this year. Trying to make them for as cheap as possible and basically the only thing Im going to have to pay for in the heim joints or whatever I decide to use if there is anything else.
Do you really need 4 of them or will 2 suffice with a solid mount on the control arm?
Are there any designs or materials that are better than others? Squeeks and such
Any cheap places that sell them?
Thanks guys

Also curious if the way they are threaded matters, left and or right seems to be sold
I dont know how they are adjusted at the radius rod or what adjusting does so i dont understand
Is 1/2"-20 A good size for these?

If its an EF chassis type DO NOT use 1/2. GO bigger. If its an EG/DC/EK type the 1/2 will be fine. You need right and left threads so you can adjust them on the car.
Don't buy cheap rod-ends!!! A rod-end breaking is not ok. Aurora is the best around for the average racer. www.hrpworld.com Talk to Mike Eddy!

Go check out speedwaymotors for nice threaded rod but I don't really like their rod ends. I went with some from McMaster when I built my 4 link and panhard for my old Corolla and they held up fine. Don't buy cheap heims if you value your life. Those snap and it won't be pretty.

1/2 heim can hold up a small bridge, they are strong if you use them right.

Would 1/2-20 suffice?
Theres some cheap ones on ebay
Also, does my welding a nut onto each end of my new radius rods work ok, or would that be taking a ---- load of force?
I BELIEVE that tubing I took from work is almost 3/4" ID But 3/4" heim are EXPENSIVE it seems
