amen to that, a shitty rod end will ruin your day

I'm not sure if it was mentioned but FK rod ends make good parts, and you can also look into speedwaymotors.com if no one mentioned it.

Anyone have a source for rod ends that use a polyurethane insert and metal sleeve instead of the heim? I know they are made I just can't find the damn things.

Energy suspension and Prothane both sell universal "link bushings". Basically they are just like 2 flanged poly halves with a metal sleeve, they have sleeve inside diameters of 1/2" and 9/16" and the outside bushing diameters are 1 1/8" and 1 1/4" (supposed to fit inside that size metal tubing *I believe*). They are 1.4 to 1.75 inches long (the metal sleeve) and I think thats what your looking for. That would be a better idea id think, as I was thinking this also, seeing as you cant break the joint, just the weld if possible, and if teh bushing gets trashed, its still not going to be a safty issue since the EF chassis needs the bars to be driveable. If those would not be the right size your looking for, it seems that some of the leafspring bushing kits maye be useable, along with some of the shock bushings they have available. BTW, i have part number for the above bushings if your interested. I have the whole prothane and energy suspension catalogs.

I wanted to start fresh and get rid of the oem bushings, sleeves, and bushing "housing" if you will. Its such a PITA to remove the old bushings. Anotherwords I'm looking for an assembled rod end...the complete unit. I know they are available. I've seen them, but can't locate them now that I need them.

Maybe i wasnt quite clear or im misunderstanding you, but look at this picture of a Dodge lift kits contorl arms

the control arms are like what I was taliking about, they have bushings like that where all you do is weld a 1 1/4" section of tube perpendicular (where the heim would thread in normally) to the long section of thinner tube(the traction bar itself) and then you jam the bushings in, and make a mount for it on the new crossmember. Is that kinda what you are aiming for?

Yeah, your on the money. I apologize if I misunderstood.
The 1 1/4" section of tube that you mount perpendicular to the traction bar (in this case) will suffice as a bearing "housing" but I was looking for the adjustability of a heim.
Something such as what is pictured here but I'm pretty sure ES doesn't provide anything but the bushings:

Here we go, but discontinued:
