where the ---- do you get regular welding gas? use your noggin, nignog

 

your friend who has obvioulsy never welded before and gets all his welding information off of honda-tech is ------- stupid. im not saying that tig welding doesnt have advantages over mig but its not flat out better. its just a different way of doing it.

whats going to affect weld quality is the type of material or materials your welding and how clean they are, the type of filler (ie is it the right filler for the job?), the sheilding gas (affects the transfer and puddle in mig welding), and the skill of the person using the machine.

 

Yep you can mig ss. If you're good you can even weld ss to mild like me! comes in handy when you run out of mild elbows whoops haha.

 

i've welded SS to mild (& SS to SS) soo many times using flux-core, holds up just as strong as anything else, as long as you do it right, maybe 5 years down the road the weld might weaken from corrision, oh big whoop, weld it again

Flux core - MIG - TIG

cheap & easy - almost as cheap, just as easy - expensive & tricky (for a beginner)

basically the weld is as good as the person doing it, doesn't really matter which form of welding it is, kinda like the line "computers are only as smart as the user"
