It should be? Did you just do this from thought or did you actually build from what the NHRA rules say it needs to be?

What did you use for a welder?I have a Competition Engineering 8pt roll bar here I want to put in my Civic but I only have a 90amp wirefeed and the instructions say min 130amp?The plates are 1/8 and my little welder will easily weld that.

I have a rule book and went by it so it should be legal, but until I have it checked (if I even do) I do not know. From all my friends that have cert. cages the inspecyion process is not that involed. They never looked at the welds, they didn't pull the carpet back to see how it was attached or anything. All they did was stick a machine on the tubing in a few spots to check the thickness and then slapped a sticker on it.

90dx, I used 4130 chrome moly so it had to be tig welded. Moly tube can be thinner than steel (that is why it is lighter)
and I used my tig set at 85amps when doing this. So your weder might be a little pressed for steel. If you have a torch to put a little heat into the joints before you start welding I bet you could get by with it though. Tube is pretty cheap though, wounldn' hurt to get a small section to practice on. Then cut it open and see how the weld looks.

Thanks Pit

Later
Randy
