Everyone that has seen my turbo car without a intercooler gives me ----. The reason for not running one in my application is it's cold as ----, we need good responds, don't run crazy boost, run race gas, 20 degrees of timming, and we are already at the edge of traction.

After a great cold weekend I found a Plastic tank intercooler to install on my car. So maybe it will add some power and reliablity to the car. The only bad thing I see is the plastic end tanks. I don't know if it will work with the tube outlets. I don't have that much room up front so I may have to fix the outlets. What I was think of doing is cut the plastic end tank and tig weld some AL tanks on them with my own tanks. Will this work at all

Depending on the IC you should be able to bend those "fingers" back, cleany remove the end tank and then have a good model to make your new tanks with.

 

Then retab or weld the new tanks on Sorry guys I haven't ever fucked with this ---- before

Cut the tabs carefully with a cutoff wheel and weld AL endtanks on.

 

That is what the plan is this week!!! I will post back with some pictures.

definitely a good call. I think not many people go this route because well... if you have the ability to TIG weld AL you probably also have the $ to just buy a nice IC.

Any IC is better than no IC

Well I didn't get it done this week. I spent too much time on other things on the car. I even worked on my tow rig (first time ever) This car has about zero room to do anytype of air to air intercooler. I can't mount it low because it will get fucked up after I hit a snow bank at 100+ mph. I would mount it high in the front(between the lights), but our car sits low and everyone else seems to have tall rear bumpers. We race very close and I would prefer not to put a hole in the intercooler. Does anyone have a link how to build a water to air intercooler or even some parts. I looked around on the internet but I don't know what ---- works.

PS I have a Mill, Lathe, TIG, MIG, spot, torch, even a protable tig and stick. But I also spend almost 6 grand a month on shop and home payments Then I have to heat and turn on the lights.
