Re: Custom brake setup question

hey first of all I ain't trying to go 180 in my civic. any person who owns a civic with a sohc motor that thinks he is going 180 is straight up crazy. But I do run the local road course at times, and some more stopping power would be nice. I was thinking these calipers and some ceramic pads. and for me to go find some porsche calipers I might as well go buy myself a baer or brembo big brake kit that comes with the rear disc brake conversion and stop on a dime. But since I ain't about to drop around $1000 on the brakes on my daily driver I would rather go with suby calipers from a junkyard car for like $35 with pads. sounds like a better idea to me.

Legend calipers are 2 piston, if you care. Some grinding on the mounting surface or a 3-5mm brake disc spacer is needed though.

I do care. thanks man! I would rather use all honda products something about using subaru brakes on a honda makes me a little queazy, but more performance is cool and I am on a budget for the whole car.

Hell go find some RX7 TII or the model below them and they have nice aluminium 4 piston calipers. Otherwise I say just get some rebuilt Legend calipers from autozone and toss some old civic calipers back in the box for the core charge. lol.

Re: Custom brake setup question

you should see my h-t style brake colection, 4x100 4 wheel disc setup with 10.2 fronts and 9 rears, 4x114.3 with 11.2 front with spoon calipers and 10 inch rears, 5x114.3 with 13.5 fronts, mugen calipers and 10 inch rears. All for my eg, I love brakes :P

curently the car has the 4x114.3 on it with stock 5 lug type r calipers on all 4 corners, v-tec prelude front rotors and accord rear rotors so my 15 inch 96 spec type r wheels will clear with no spacers and looks dead stock. :8

Re: Custom brake setup question

thanks for your help guys I am actually getting useful responses now. If I can find a junked rx7 with those 4 piston calipers I may go with that. If I am gonna have to trim up legend calipers to fit anyways might as well go with the 4 pistons. I was actually thinking about doing the rebuilt calipers idea through one of those auto parts stores. But if I can find them in a junkyard for cheaper I will do that. We will see.
