Close ups on Welds, Just for you Hotrex

Here are some pictures of a set up just built. This is going to be for a 2000 si aiming for 300whp. Got more pictures saved, but here are the money shots. The Filter might have to be trimmed just a tiny bit ;)
Enjoy

whats up with the collector you got going there? YOu just ram those into a bigger piece of piping SSauto style? NOt really feeling it and how much do you charge for something like that? :l

Its an A/C compatible Version, Things are a bit tighter as the manifold is shifted to the left of the motor. When you cut the elbows shorter, they will look tighter.

Well, the main reason you see the box section is for full flow, If you look at it in person you will see how nice it lines up with the collector and then the turbo flange. It is not SS style at all as it is much thicker wall tubing. Charge varies on a lot of things, size, material, A/c or not, stainless or mild etc. This set up was around $2500 but he purchased everything from us to build his kit.

Looks good to me, something I want to do soon as well. Is he using stock fans? Where that wastegate is placed it's got to be tight as anything.

Slim fans for sure, Radiator fan will be on opposite side, A/C fan will be on factory side. The dump tube is really going anywhere, but yes its a tight fit, itll just blow down along the tranny bell housing.

you need to rotate the center section. :P
if the t3 flange was level you wouldn't have had to cheat the dp as much.
looks ok. not your best work, but better than mine :(

this is true, but then you run into problems clearing the bleeder valve. It the curse of the hydro tranny.

Re: Close ups on Welds, Just for you Hotrex

i dont forsee myself having much time for much else besides manifolds downpipe kits and charge piping ect.

were hitting other markets besides honda so, id say pretty soon slappynuts wont even be able to sell himself on the street corner ;) ------ fatass that he is.

were coming out with our own traction bar, we will carry flanges, couplers ect. no chinese ---- though.

there currently isnt a shop in ct that can focus on honda related ----, so i forsee a huge local market.

time will tell. but ill be busy with something thats for sure.

BoosTedZSix 07-21-2006 07:41 AM

Re: Close ups on Welds, Just for you Hotrex

Not a good idea man, stick with one thing to start and hit it hard. Once u become known and profitable, then u can expand into new things. Thats just my opinion.

Lol, your picture and the one below do not go together at all. On that note, how long did you spend polishing that lmanifold and any particular reason? Definately looks sexy as hell, i have some 316 on the way, what did you need exactly

Actually I didn't polish that one, the future owner didn't really want to pay me to do it so I let him use my buffing wheel :)
But in the end I will end up making it look better. It's still a bit blurry and has some scratches in it.
It does take way to long to polish them, on a regular old log like that one it take a lot longer to polish it than to make it.
Only reason for it is the bling, they do look a lot better shined up.

Here is one shined up real nice. If I told you what I sold it for it would make you vomit in your mouth it was so cheap ???

Also when you get a price on the 316 1.5" l's could you shoot me a message with a price.

Thanks
Randy

That would be my bling O0

I didn't spend enough time on the polishing part maybe 1.5 hrs, I figured I'd go back and hit it again once Randy finished it, but I spent a lot more time sanding it probably 4 hours or more using 120 grit on my angle grinder.

That thing is tits as well, why did you put the wastegate so far off to one side? If you start with a nice coarse sand, then a 3 stage wheel process, you can get some pretty amazing shine. Stainless is great, Aluminum is even better. Ive been wanting to make one manifold and grind all the welds down and then do a nice polish, just to see how nice it would actually look. However time isnt a very friendly thing for me these days so i may stay in the "wanting" stage for a while. Keep up the good work man.

grinding down the welds is not a good idea...
