Chinese TIG welder owners (especially Smiley's) I need your help~!
Just a quick question, I want mod my machine so that the foot pedal peak current is limited to the amount of current set on the machine.
Has anyone done this to any of their chinese machines

Yes, I built a pulser for mine.
It takes a cheap electronics metronome kit, a SPDT SSR, and two 1k pots. Wire the outside terminals of both relays. Route the wiper terminal of the pot you want to be the control when the pulser is off to the normally closed terminal of the relay, and route the other wiper terminal to the normally open.
Use the light, or speaker output on the metronome kit to trigger the SSR.
Now you have a basic pulser where you can set the pulse per second and the low & high currents.
I will warn you. DO NOT modify your china machine until you are certain it will work longer than the warranty lasts. After a year of very heavy use mine just broke down.

My machine came with a foot control I was hoping that I could route the imput from the FC thu the Current pot in the machine so that the pedal will only reach the current set at the machine. At the moment the FC is very coarse in its adjustment and ramps up to 180A or so.
I'm thinking of using the foot contol to turn the arc on and off and getting rid of the switch on the hand peice.
I've had my machine for 18 mths or so, I hope it dosen't f up now.

ESAB. /thread. I'm going to get mine tomorrow if the one I wanted was still there. I'm using a Miller right now as well. IDK the model number offhand, but it's one of the ones that can do everything. I haven't done TIG with it, but my stick welding looked professional. My vertical MIG is looking really good too. Straight as an arrow and nice definition in the bead. I'd like to buy one of the Millers for around the shop simple ---- and then the ESAB will be for the pretty TIG stuff. I priced the Miller and it was $4k. The ESAB is $6k, but last year's model. I say buy a good welder or you'll just fight it the whole time. I used a little AC MIG machine today and it was rinky dink even though it was Miller. Big *** welder=good welds haha.
Guys, I am here to answer any questions you might have concerning any of the Chinese made welding/cutting machines.
I have been involved with these machines for over 2 and a half years, researching/selling. I have sold well over 600 plasma cutters/combo tig-plasma cutters. I am able to communicate indirectly with the factory engineer through my English speaking factory rep/saleman.
OK, ask questions or just flame away at me,

Cool, find out why my gas solenoid doesnt get voltage. I changed the solenoid board and the solenoid itself for ***** and giggles. I get power to the torch just no gas.
The board came from another member here that had a smiley that didnt work. Yes Mitech 120. I don't use the machine but it would be nice to have as a back up.
