Re: cheap head studs
well after getting that price I see that the arp is good price for what u get but hey this could of turned out to to be a great idea, kinda like boosting a stock honda engine. someone has to come up with ideas to find new ----. and I agreee with what u are saying about the strength but I still dont think it would sweken the stud enuff to be a problem.

Re: cheap head studs
i agree on finding cheaper ways of doing the same thing, but to me the $90 isnt worth the effort

Re: cheap head studs
1 phone call to possible save hundreds of people posibly 50 each seems like a fair deal

Re: cheap head studs
Perhaps you could get someone to thread the ends of some high strength rod and get it treated. Cutting threads will drastically reduce the tensile strength of material, as well as reduce the cross sectional area. This is also bad.

Re: cheap head studs
Ya, or to save hassle and worries you could go for VW 1.8l Head studs on you ZC. I know they cost $ but do you really want to be replacing 120.00 USD Headgaskets everytime it blows because you skimped on something as easy as Head Studs?

Re: cheap head studs
I have to say good try atleast. You never know until you look. but 100 bucks just isn't that much. I'd rather just get the studs from arp not have to cut anything and know their fine.

Re: cheap head studs
Its a good idea but there is a big difference in strength and life between something with cut threads and something with rolled threads.

Re: cheap head studs
i wouldnt trust that on an expensive build but if i was doing a shitty engine that cost me $100 i would reuse my same head studs anyway.
