Well the brafasco guy didnt call me back yet but he said that the B7 was very strong. the place we are having the problem here is that most people only offer a 1.75pitch in the metric m12. we have to have the 1.5.

ARP makes their studs in house as well as their nuts. Your threaded rod idea wont work, for good reason.

It's fully threaded. Threads are weak.
The material of most headstuds is far above that of just about any available threaded rod.

We're working on making them for the VW 20v since the only available studs for us come from Raceware at a cost of over $200 a set. We've started with 4340 Chromo solid rod. It's being ground to diameter and heat treated, then the threads are rolled on from there.

You're welcome to try your threaded rod idea at the risk of a head gasket... but chances are you'll end up paying for a set of studs.

the rod that we are getting is a ery high strength metel, it is also already heat treated. The reason its threaded all the way is because if it has to be custome made it is a lot cheaper to have them make the whole rod threaded and let me cut the lengths my self. and I doubt that we will ever just snap a stud while driving.

how does your threaded rod fit into this spec wise, ARP head studs are 8740 cromoly.

im sure this rod is strong but remember strong is a relative term.

oh and why would ARP contract out to make bolts, thats all they ------- do..

ya i would atr least want to know tinsile strength and load capacity... 90 dollars is cheap man... dont drink for a week or two... ---- i used to drink 90 dollarsd a night in the bar 3 nights a week.... Or... save your money, its a very worthwhile investment.

10 d series studs are longer then 3 feet arn't they? so you would loos money?

you still arent getting it. it doesnt matter how hard or strong the metal is. the threaded area is weak. i work on airplanes and anything that is structual cannot be threaded all the way. it has to have a shank. $90 is cheap
