Default cage material?

just wondering the right size and type of metal to use to put in a cage (not chromoly. it will be mig'd)

For now i am just going to weld 2 plates to my rear strut towers and a bar in between, so when i go to make the cage i can tie it into the bar

any help if appriciated

thanks

if you plan on racing solo/road course you need to check the rules. diff car weights require diff thickness tubing

Check your rule book. That's new you can't mig Crome pipe. There is most likey 10,000 mig welded circle track cars racing today.

Home Depot 1.75" black steel gas pipe FTW! Heck, it's what my buddy uses on his modified, thick enough wall and seamless...it may work lol.

My guess is your friend never won a race. Weight is king at the race track.

I should've clarified...dirt track modified. Actually he places in the top 3 almost every event he races, and has won a few. A few extra pounds is not his concern at 80mph on dirt...how well his car will take hits more or less is
