Default A book review...

I decided to read a book

I purchased "Kimini: How to design and build a mid-engine sports car - from scratch"

http://www.kimini.com/book_info/

It's about building a mid-engine sports car - from scratch. The guy built a mid-engine space frame and used a Honda H22 VTEC for its propulsion. His friends gave him a composite Mini body.

It's a very interesting book. Doesn't teach you step-by-step instructions on building one, but it gives you the knowledge you need to build one as well as breaking the project down into steps. I like how he explains what he did, why he did it, what mistakes he made, and how he would do things differently. He explains pros and cons of different ways of doing things, like using live axles or independent rear suspension, instead of saying "this is the way I did it, and thus is the best way."

Good ----. I'd like to build one in the future but I need to learn ---- like, uh, welding.

Thought you's guys would be interested since this site is all about performance, cheap, and DIY.

Yup, read through and enjoyed that thread. It's actually what got me interested into looking into this stuff.

Looks like a lot of work, but 200-300hp would be quite a bit of fun on a 1000lb chassis with such a low center-of-gravity.

The satisfaction of doing that yourself must be amazing. #rotor has amazing skill and patience to accomplish something of that magnitude.
