i tried to do mine and i had them sit in the sun for weeks and they never cured
i use hockey pucks, i cut them down to size with a coping saw or hack saw. work awesome.

just call up a local plastics supplier and tell them you want some uerathane rod in the diameter you want it and they can make them, but you might have to put the hole in the middle. as for durometer, that is the hardness/stiffness of the material. the higher the number, the harder it is.
