Yea... i'm pretty sure the end results are 95% weldor and only 5% welder.

It's all the same electricity its what you do with it that counts

actually yall are only partly correct.
If the welder isnt calibrated properly (high frequency points not right, bad main board, etc) then it can be a big nightmare on the weldor as he will think he just doesnt have a nack for it, I have seen a couple cheap welders that these were the case and after recalibrating they worked pretty decent but still not as *nice* as one of the more expensive welders. Just rember it takes more than a great driver to win a race, if you have a 10 second car and a 15 second driver you wont hit the 10 mark on your first run, but if you have a 15 second car and a 10 second driver, you will never hit the 10 mark.
I am in no means doggin on anybody with a lower dollar welder as I started out with a $400 home depot flux core mig when I was just getting going***

damn why is everyone beating this guy up SickCrx I'm going to take you up on your offer. I'm pretty decent at welding but tips that can make things easier for me are always welcome. for starters I have a licoln precision tig 185. on your welds below what teqnique do you use? weave circles ect? also what amperage are you using and are you using a pulser? what size electrode, gas cup, and fill rod do you use? what argon flow? do you use the 1/2 metal thickness rule for metal fit? and unlike these other guys I do appreciate you offering your experience. to the rest of you guys. GROW UP!

I don't know much about the insides of TIG welders, but I do know that with most tools when you pay for quality, you get quality. Also, I'm not going to lie, his welds look nicer than the **** I was fondling last night.

However, this is still HMT and almost everyone here is a hobby welder.
There is absolutely no need for a hobby weldor to spend $2k on the welder.

this is smily tools tig in action, and i will also be honest. i will lay a nicer bead with this that i was with my dads precision tig 185. i could never get that thing to my liking.

i agree, when it comes to the ability to weld aluminum, or having a pulser option or a foot pedal sure, pay the extra, but for me the smiley with a plasma option for 599.

you cant beat that with a stick. i will be upgrading to a 180sd, but, for now this thing is a solid unit for my needs.

Haha, someone else posts a manifold and the NE crew is up in arms. No, hotrex has never been full of himself. What'd this guy do again? lol.

He didn't step on everyones work, he said he's seen "alot of pitiful manifolds". Since you post a picture of one of yours every hour, I'd say he wasn't lying. lol.

(you know I got you on that one.)
